Classroom Location: Civic Center Rm B, 114 Civic Center Drive, Taos, NM 87571

Do you have some of those beautiful hand painted rovings with all of those gorgeous colors? Or maybe one that is neon bright? And you just aren't sure what to do with them? Then this is the class for you. You will learn how to make a gradient from almost any hand-painted roving. Then you will create a fractal, no math knowledge required. And at last, you will forge an amazing stained glass yarn, from a garishly bright roving. There will be discussion on finishing techniques, and examples of finished items from each of these types of yarns. Students are encouraged to bring in any hand-painted roving that has confounded them.

In this class we’ll explore:

  • Hand-Painted Roving
  • Gradients, Singles or 2-ply
  • Fractals, 2-ply
  • Stained Glass Yarn, 2-ply
  • Finishing Techniques

After this class, you will be able to spin an array of beautiful yarns that are uniquely suited to create interesting color stories within a garment or fabric.
