Adventures in Core Spinning with Multiple Fibers

October 5th-3 hours(1:00-4:00)

Classroom Location: Civic Center Rm A, 114 Civic Center Drive, Taos, NM 87571

Create unique, colorful, handspun yarns using wool, silk and mohair. In this class, students will learn a two-step process for creating a unique textured yarn. They will learn how to spin a strong, bulky wool single. They will then learn how to use that single as a visible core to wrap with mohair and silk to create beautiful, textured, one-of-a-kind yarns. Students will also have the opportunity to combine colors and fibers to create desired effects. The class will cover spinning techniques as well as tips for working with color and fiber texture.

Skill Level: Intermediate

Students should be able to spin a continuous thread. All spinners are welcome!

$40 materials fee, includes: 4 oz - selection of wool, 2 oz mohair locks, 2 oz silk selection, use of decorative thread

Students need to bring: spinning wheel, lazy kate (not attached to the wheel)
