Classroom Location: El Monte Studio 317 Kit Carson Road, Taos, NM 87571

Warm and cozy, chic and distinctive, felted accessories add fun to any outfit in any season. Join our class to expand your awareness of 3-D felting and texture. In this 1 or 2-day class each student will create a purse and a hat (or a purse only for the 1-day class). You will create your projects to match—or not—while incorporating texture into dimensional felt. We will discuss the basics of incorporating the right colors in the right amounts to give your felt the look and feel that appeal most to you. We will study several different ways to incorporate our purse cords and how to make a hat pattern that is adjustable to any head size. Demonstrations, instructor samples, step-by-step written instructions, and hands-on practice combine learning styles into a lively classroom experience. This class has been developed to allow for the most individuality possible so each student will be able to focus on creativity and felting techniques. With detailed handouts, you will be able to take your creativity beyond the classroom to create additional felted projects on your own after the class. Students must have had some wet (traditional) felting experience with prerequisites including having a basic knowledge of the felting process, felting terminology, and ability to lay out roving for felt-making. You may sign up for Day 1 only or Day 1 and Day 2. You may not sign up for Day 2 only.
